2nd Jan 10 (Indicative
prices)
Spices: (per
ton)
Cumin Seed
The jeera prices ended the week upside compared
to last week's closing. The expectation of lower output has pushed it
northwards. The prices for cumin seed were lower to pepper but now this
spice has become more costlier.
The jan and feb both contracts moved up by more
than 1% this week.
Cumin seed futures India (approx. in US$ / per
100kg) - Jan - US$ 315.7, Feb - 321.5, Mar - 325
Black Pepper MGI - US$ 3175-3100 pmt fob Kochi port
The prices for pepper moved up in Indian market mainly due to speculation
as there are no strong fundamentals for the commodity to go upside. The
export demand is almost negligible and new harvest is expected soon so
the market is expecting pepper prices to fall.
The jan and futures contract increased by approx. 2.5% this week compared
to last week.
