The jeera Oct futures moved up by more than 3%
today itself while Nov contracts were up by approx. 2.5% due to festival
season in India. Last week too, it was up by around 1-1.4%. At present,
the prices of Indian jeera is lowest in international market compared
to other origins like Syria and Turkey. Syrian cumin seed is getting offered
at around US$ 2450-2475 pmt on fob basis.
Cumin Futures Market: Oct & Nov both futures were trading at around
US$ 235 per quintal on ncdex commodity exchange while Dec contract were
at USD 237 per quintal.
Black Pepper MGI - US$ 3100-3125 pmt fob Kochi port
The prices of black pepper too increased in tandem
with other spices due to festive season in India. The futures market took
over the spot one which till then was at premium. The major competitor
of India, Vietnam origin is on higher side at US$ 3150-3200 fob hcmc while
Brazil at 2850-2900 on fob basis.
Pepper Futures: The Oct futures was almost up by
2% in today's session while nov contracts increased by around 1.8%. The
Oct futures were approx. trading at usd 301 per quintal and nov futures
at 304.80. Other contracts in usd per 100kg : Dec @ 309.2, Jan & Feb
@ 310.4 and March @ 317.9.

The turmeric counter like other spices too moved up today in Indian market.
The futures contracts jumped up by almost 3% due to demand and also as
spot market were at heavy premium , so to close in onto that gap. The
Oct futures were approx. trading at usd 160.7 per 100kg, nov futures at
usd 155 and Dec contracts were at around usd 149.6.
