Rice Bran Meal

India is one of the largest producer and exporter of rice in the world. The main staple diet of South India is Rice as lot of rice is grown in that region and very limited quantity of wheat.

Rice comes in the field in the form of paddy. When it is milled, rice bran, a by-product of rice consisiting of the outer layer of the kernels is obtained. Rice bran is further processed for its oil and meal. Rice bran oil is known for its nutritional superiority and better protection of heart.

Rice bran meal though has only 14-16% proteins which is very less compared to other oilmeals like soybean meal, peanut meal, rapeseed meal etc, it has low fibre content which makes it free from rancidity problems and hence is in great demand for use in poultry as well as in cattle feed. Rice bran meal is also heard getting used as organic fertiliser and for medicinal purpose.

One can say Vietnam is the only buyer of Rice bran meal from India. Other countries if purchases then in very limited quantity.

As soybean meal moved upward during the period the prices of rice bran meal too showed some improvement as both are used in feed industry.

12th August - US$ 142-145
There is almost no export demand for rice bran meal right now. The demand for it mainly arises from Vietnam, one of the biggest importer of feed meals from India.

21st July - US$ 147-150
The prices remained on the same level.

11th July - US$ 147-150
The prices of rice bran meal showed some decline though the prices of other feed meals were up.

4th July - US$ 150-152
The prices are still unchanged.

26th June - US$ 150-152
The prices are stable right now at the same level.

16th June - US$ 150-152
The rice bran meal this time has moved up after good demand was generated due to skyrocketing of soybean meal prices.

12th June - US$ 142-145
The prices are on the same level. Its demand is limited so there is not much fluctuations in its prices.
