Soybean Meal
: US$ 388-392 pmt fob Kandla/Bedi port
The prices for soybean meal dropped on lower export demand and improved
weather conditions in Argentina, the biggest exporter of soymeal in world
market. The export volume from India has dropped by more than 40% for
feb 2009 compared to corressponding period last year. The economic slowdown
seems to have affected the consumption pattern in the far east region,
the main buyer of Indian sbm. It is widely used as animal feed ingredient.
So with the drop in demand for livestock products, the demand for feed
meals is bound to go down. In Jan 09 521243 tons was exported from India
while in Feb 09 the volume dropped to 375098 indicating substantial dip
in demand. Vietnam and Japan were the main buyers during last month.
Rapeseed Meal - US$ 175-177 pmt fob Kandla port.
It showed marginal drop in its prices moving in conjunction with sbm.
The export for rapeseed meal dropped tremendously as it stood at 27558
tons in feb 09 compared to 105450 during feb 08. China was the major
buyer.
Peanut
Meal - US$ 280-282 pmt fob Bedi port
Rice bran meal - US$ 110-112 pmt fob Kakinada port
The prices for peanut meal went down while that for rc bn remained same.
The export volume for peanut meal was 10748 tons and rc bn 5490 tons for
the month of feb 09.
Other Oilmeal:
Castor Meal - US$ 55-56 pmt fob Kandla port
Its export stood at 21901 tons with South Korea being the only buyer.
